Woodley Sports are very proud to announce that six of our bowlers took first and second place in the Greater Manchester SMBA Triples Championships held this Saturday at Etherow Indoor Bowling Centre.
Eight teams of three competed head to head for the title of GM 2023 Triples Champions and a place at the National Finals in Melton Mowbray next April. A high standard of bowling was on display throughout the day and all the teams were in high spirits throughout the event.
Teams kicked off the day playing round robin games, with those who qualified making their way to two semi-final matches. In the semi-finals, we saw Mike Anderson, Steven Roberts and Angela Roberts from Woodley Sports get a 12-5 win against Jennifer Little, Lawson Mitten and David Little whilst Angharad Brideaux, Darren Lloyd and Peter Roberts, also from Woodley Sports took a narrow win of 9-8 after a tie-break end against Ben Holbrook, Stephen Wilson and Sheila Wilson.
We then saw another strong performance from Angharad and team as they claimed a 10-6 victory against Mike and his team, which saw them named as GM 2023 Triples Champions and secured them a place at the National Finals next April.
A third and fourth place match also took place at the same time as the final which saw Ben‘s team take third place with a 19-0 win against Jennifer and her team.
The event was held at Etherow Indoor Bowling Centre and sponsored by Techniheat Plant Services. We are very much looking forward to seeing the results from the successful bowlers at the National Finals in April.
